Everyone goes through this at some point, but don't stress, I'm here to help you get through it.
1. Planning the renovation budget: if you plan well, you will sleep well.
Planning your budget before starting the renovation is a MUST HAVE to avoid mistakes. Sit down and write down what you want to do and how. Walk through the apartment, look in every corner, and maybe something will come to mind.
Don't skip anything, whether it's purchases, labor, what you will do yourself, and what you will outsource.
2. Choosing the wrong contractor: choose wisely.
Don't search for the cheapest contractor on your own - because cheap can end up being expensive. Choose a team that someone recommends, preferably one whose work you have seen.
If you choose wisely, you'll thank yourself later.
3. Lack of a contract with the contractor and ignorance of formal and legal matters: it's important that you yourself have the right knowledge.
Sit comfortably and read up - don't rely on someone else because you might be mistaken.
You need to know at least a little about building regulations or homeowners' associations - this will help you avoid unpleasant surprises.
4. Functional aspect - what is that?: it would be nice to live not only beautifully but also functionally.
Plan everything carefully, as it is important to know where and how all the furniture and appliances should be arranged. Think it through thoroughly, and you will never ask yourself, "Why didn't I add another outlet here?"
5. Poor approach to choosing furniture and equipment: materials, decorations, finishes.
Seemingly the simplest, but it can cause many problems. Everything must match because it's like puzzles from different sets - "everything looks nice separately, but together it doesn't fit."
Summary
You now know that renovating an apartment or house is not easy, but everything is possible for those who want it. I would simply define renovation as scattered puzzles that we need to put together into a whole, and for that, we need a good plan.
The most important thing is not to let yourself go crazy and to act according to a defined plan, considering all the pieces that make up the whole renovation, without skipping any of them.
Remember to start by flipping the puzzles, that is, the cost estimate, arrange the corners and frame first, which means checking references and signing a contract, look for the right pieces, meaning plan carefully and control the work, place the last pieces, which means furnish wisely and consciously.
I hope that identifying these five major mistakes will help you create beautiful and functional interiors without mishaps and additional costs.
